Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard: Luis Suárez key to our top-four bid Steven Gerrard believes Luis Suárez is key to Liverpool’s chances of finishing in thePremier League top four this season. The Uruguay international has scored six goals in his last five top-flight games after returning from a 10-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanović in a 2-2 draw withChelsea in April. And Liverpool captain Gerrard reckons Suárez, who netted 23 Premier League strikes last season, will need to produce the goals and the performances to help the Reds seal a return to theChampions League. “His goals, his performances and his form will be the key whether we finish in the top four or not. Luis is the key,” Gerrard told Liverpool’s website. The 33-year-old Reds skipper also named Suárez as his most talented Liverpool team-mate during a distinguished 15-year-old career. “He’s out on his own,” he added. “The only player who comes close to producing what Luis has produced in a red shirt isFernando Torres, but Luis has just pipped him for me.”
