Tottenham Hotspur to extend Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli's contract

Tottenham Hotspur are set to open contract talks with Belgian trio Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli in a bid to secure their long-term future at the club. All three have been an integral part of the Spurs' setup this season.
The Telegraph reports that the talks have already begun over a new deal and the club are looking to get a new contract made for Dembele, who has only 18 months left in his contract. Vertonghen and Chadli's deals run on until 2018 but the club have made a conscious decision to get their deals extended so as to prevent any altercations in the future.
Tottenham have gone 13 games without a loss this season, with their last setback coming on the first day of the season against Manchester United, giving themselves a fighting chance to qualify for the Champions League next season. Their points tally of 25 is only four points adrift of leader Manchester City, and only two behind Arsenal, against whom they played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates.
Dembele has been in great form over the past few games which has sparked talks over a move to Chelsea in January, who are in the market to strengthen their midfield. Jose Mourinho has earmarked the Belgian to add to their currently dysfunctional duo of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, who have failed to recover the form they displayed in their title-winning campaign last season.
Meanwhile, Pochettino has confirmed in his press conference that Chadli is close to returning to action after sustaining an ankle injury in October. The winger's availability will come as a much- needed boost for the Argentine given the barrage of fixtures coming up in the festive period. Meanwhile, Vertonghen's partnership with Toby Alderweireld is being heralded as among the best in the division, with a brilliant defensive record to back-up their claims.
