Jamie Vardy’s journey from non-league footballer to Premier League record-breaker could be about to be turned into a Hollywood movie.
The Leicester City striker, who broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record at the weekend by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches, has enjoyed a remarkable rise.
And his rags-to-riches tale has caught the eye of screenwriter Adrian Butchart, who the Sun claims is having meetings to turn Vardy’s journey into a film.
Butchart created the Goal films and it’s claimed he’s looking at actor Robert Pattinson to potentially play Vardy.
Adrian Butchart on Jamie Vardy
‘It’s the kind of story that if we made it up, people wouldn’t believe it.
‘His achievements are incredible and to break the Premier League record with such a sublime goal against the biggest club in football pushed him to the top of our agenda.’
Just a few years ago he was a £30-a-week non-league player struggling to balance his games with his day job of making medical splints.
But now he’s one of the most wanted players around, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid all following him closely.
