Mauricio Pochettino to sign a striker in January

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he would like to sign a striker as back-up to Harry Kane.
Spurs have Heung-Min Son and Clinton N’Jie who can play as forwards, but no out-and-out striker to support and back up Kane.
Pochettino and the club pursued Saido Berahino in the summer, but West Brom refused to sell the striker. Pochettino refused to discuss Berahino specifically.
“I’m very happy with my squad but always in every position you can improve,” said Pochettino. “We have offensive players who can play like Harry. There is Son (Heung-min) or (Nacer) Chadli or Clinton (N’Jie) — they can play like a striker.
“But maybe it’s true (that Spurs will sign a striker in January). I recognise they are not specifically strikers so maybe we will work to try to find such a player who we can add in the next transfer window or in the summer to try to help the team. It is important we find someone who is very specific.
When asked whether Berahino was a target for the club, Pochettino was coy.
“We never speak in public about another club’s player. We need to show respect. Of course we are interested in different players — that is our job.”
That said, it’s clear that Spurs would still like Berahino. Now to persuade West Brom to sell after playing hardball over the summer.
