Gunners to return for Ba in January. Arsenal will make a renewed bid forChelsea striker Demba Ba during the January transfer window. The Gunners saw a deadline day loan bid for the star rejected by the Blues- who failed to land top forward target Wayne Rooney from Manchester United in the summer. Yet manager Arsene Wenger is aware he needs to bolster his forward line when the transfer window re-opens, with Olivier Giroud the only proven frontman at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners boss was hopeful Nicklas Bendtner would be able to step up, but the Dane's insipid performance against the Blues in the League Cup strengthened Wenger’s resolve to land a forward in the winter. Ba fits the bill as Chelsea would likely allow the 28-year-old to leave on a short-term deal, though Wenger would have to pay a loan fee- something he refused to do in the summer. The Frenchman still has a large portion of his reported70 million summer war chest available, however, and could even table a straight cash bid if his hand is forced, with Roma, Valencia and Galatasaray also interested in Ba. If the Senegalese hitman does leave Stamford Bridge, boss Jose Mourinho will re-double his efforts to land Gala forward Burak Yilmaz, who would cost around20m.
