Benitez wants Leiva reunion. Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly targeting a reunion withLiverpoolmidfielder Lucas Leiva. The Spanish coach brought Leiva to the Premier League in 2007 when he spent5 million to sign him from Brazilian outfit Gremio. After a testing start on Merseyside due to lack of form and injuries but the Brazil international has gone on to become one of the key members of the Liverpool squad. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has told Benitez he is happy to sanction moves for new players when the transfer market re-opens in January and the Spaniard is keen to team up again with Leiva, according toCalciomercato.com. Benitez has also been linked with former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, who now plies his trade for Barcelona, as well as Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons. The 53-year-old replaced Walter Mazzarri as Napoli manager in May after winning the Europa League trophy during his interim spell as Chelsea boss last season.
