Eaglets Vs Iran: No more silly mistakes – Garba warns Eaglets. GoldenEaglets battle Iran in a round of 16 match today at the Kalifa Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain City with Coach Manu Garba warning his boys that they cannot afford to make silly mistakes or else they would be on the flight back to Nigeria. The Nigerians are favourites to progress to the quarterfinal but after showing some lapses in the defence, they have come under some stinging criticisms here and speaking yesterday at the pre-match conference, Garba said that at this stage of the tournament, caution is the word for his team. I have told my boys that they must avoid silly mistakes and I see that they are focused and ready to give their best, which must be a win against Iran. “We have won this title three times on Asian continent and now we are back in Asia and I believe in destiny and that what will be will be and God willing, we will be in the next round and from there, go on to win the title. “I am using psychological warfare on any team. The odds favour Nigeria to win the tournament here and we need elements of luck to go through against Iran”, added Garba, who assisted late Coach Yemi Tella to win the title in the 2007 edition held in South Korea. He also commended goalkeeper Dele Alampasu for keeping a clean-sheet in their 5-0 whipping of Iraq, adding that he expects him to replicate such a form against Iran today. “He made schoolboy errors against Sweden but the goalkeeper’s trainer, Emeka Amadi worked on him and he gave a very good account of himself in the last match and we expect him to be equally impressive against Iran”, said Garba.
